Holidays with all the trimmings 2019: road safety passes through car care

Vacanze con I Fiocchi celebrates 20 years, the road safety campaign of the Antarctic Center that SicurAUTO.it has supported in its summer initiatives for some time. The 2019 edition is accompanied, as always, by the symbol of travel safety with the character of Snoopy behind the wheel. The road safety campaign Vacanze con I Fiocchi aims, as every year, to raise awareness of the dangers of the road which are amplified in the summer. Among the various initiatives, the delivery of information brochures to motorists, a social campaign and the presence at the toll booths of motorways to advise motorists on the road.

20 YEARS OF ROAD SAFETY

The national campaign for safety on holiday roads promoted by the Antarctic Center was born in 1999 to counter the peak of victims of the road that accompanies the great summer exoduses. A figure that, although improved over time, still remains current. This year the activities revolve around the theme of care ( for themselves, for other travelers and for their own vehicle) as a way to promote safety. Hundreds of members throughout Italy, including local administrations, highways, associations, and the media, told it once again with the usual collaboration of exceptional testimonials such as Piero Angela, Patrizio Roversi, Tessa Gelisio and the swimming champion Marco Orsi.

ROAD ACCIDENTS INCREASE IN HOLIDAYS

In fact, the summer months, starting in July, are still those in which the highest number of accidents on the roads is recorded since in this period we most often get in the car. More than 1,200 people died on the street from June to September, equal to the number of passengers on a ferry, who disappear during the summer. Furthermore, if for 2018 the victims seem to be decreasing, -2% (preliminary estimate pending the data of ACI and Istat) - the only registrations of Stradale and Carabinieri for the first months of 2019 are alarming: + 6.7% more for the victims and + 5.6% for accidents with a fatal outcome. Away from the EU target of a 50% reduction in victims by 2020.

HOLIDAYS WITH BOWS 2019, WHERE

As every year, the information material will be distributed throughout the national territory, in particular in the junctions of the motorway network. The Vacanze con I Fiocchi 2019 edition reminds you that to travel in safety you need to " take care ": take care of yourself - being careful to get driving in the best conditions. Taking care of other passengers, for example by having seat belts fastened and using a child seat, taking care of your vehicle and other road users through compliance with the rules. The Holiday with Ribbons campaign will be disseminated through various channels, broadcasting radio spots, posters with the traditional image of Snoopy and the leaflet, distributed in more than 25,000 copies. It will be possible to meet campaign supporters and receive the brochure with tips for traveling safely in the participating Municipalities of the peninsula and on the Italian motorway network, between toll booths, service areas, Bluepoints, and courtesy areas.
