Taxi drivers have devised a new type of scam at the airport. You will get a tourist tax of CZK 256

In 2021, the Czech airline Aeroholding (responsible for providing Services at Prague Airport) signed an exclusive contract with two taxi companies - Fix Taxi and Taxi Prague (Tick Tack). Airport representatives have tried to provide visitors with quality services - only the taxi drivers in Prague have such a "good" reputation around the world that you can read "only good" on many portals on the net and in the press, more chosen when it comes to the services offered.

Tourists have rightly complained about the prices requested - you will certainly not like to be asked for two thousand crowns from the airport to the center. Exactly this kind of problem should have been prevented by the exclusive contract signed with the new suppliers. At this time there are both starting and fixed rates per kilometer.

Taxes are up to three times more expensive than in London

The new taxi companies have adhered to these prices, but customers are still facing various scams. Because the service charge is one of the most unclear elements at the moment. Its value for Prague Airport is 10 EURO. In comparison, at London's Heathrow airport it is £ 2.80, and in Malta, it is € 0.5 per person, which is equivalent to paying around 100 crowns for a fully equipped car. But not in Prague. The tax paid by the client is arbitrarily set by the taxi companies, and the representatives of the Prague Airport pass this sight, declaring that it is the responsibility of the tenants. As long as they fulfill their obligations to the airport, they can escape without any sanction.

But it is not only the customers who suffer from taxi companies' policy. In a similar situation, there are also drivers who perform contract-based races and are charged with 27,000 crowns per month for renting a parking space in the Prague airport area and with 100 crowns for each entry made. Most of Prague Airport's contract partners are taxi drivers, who are VAT payers and need a monthly turnover of around 100,000 Crowns to pay their taxes and get a monthly net profit of 30-40,000 crowns... Drivers usually take five to six trips to Prague city center within 10 hours, and the journey back to the airport is almost always free, with no customer. Furthermore, must have concluded an operational lease for two years through the company Škofin, for which it pays approximately 22,000 crowns per month, with a maximum annual rate of 60,000 km. This means that, in practice, drivers are subjected to the pressure of obtaining maximum turnover in order to make a profit. taxi whitechapel

This, of course, is reflected in the customer's asking price. According to the information available on the internet and from discussions with airport drivers, they often choose longer, bypass routes, thus avoiding shorter routes to achieve as high a mileage as possible, and a voucher with as much value as possible. great for the race. with a maximum annual rate of 60,000 km. Currently, in the airport waiting room, there is a common stand, where both companies, which are supposed to be in competition, work together and request all kinds of illegal taxes. A drive from the airport to Žižkov will cost you 900 crowns, with the "freight charge" which is almost a third of the price. Such a tax only increases the revenues of the companies but removes the individual customers. And there are still a lot of questions that haven't been answered so far.

Who verifies the execution of the contract? Who has the power to impose the contractual penalty worth two monthly rents (up to 10 million crowns)? Of course, the airport is the one who has the power to do this, only he does not use this right at all.

Other carriers, who do not have an official stand at Prague Airport, do not face such problems, and many tourists prefer to work with them. UBER and other companies, such as TRANSFERS at the AIRPORT in PRAGUE, which run their services at fixed prices, do not mislead their customers, not even the dispatcher or taxi drivers.
