HOW TO CHOOSE THE PERFECT COFFEE TABLE FOR THE LIVING ROOM

The coffee table is a fundamental piece in the decoration of your living room. Therefore, when choosing it, it is important that it not only looks good but that it is functional and adapts to your style and the rest of the elements of the space. What is the correct measurement, the best material, the right shape? These are some of the questions that we will help you answer below.

MEASURES

The stockings of the coffee table are directly related to the measurements of your armchair. It is important that both elements look harmonious and are at the correct distance for maximum comfort.
Whether it is a classic armchair, chaise longue, or "L", there are two rules that you should consider:

The first is that the width of the coffee table must be equal to 1/2 or 2/3 of the length of the chair.

The second is that the distance between both pieces of furniture must be between 40 to 45 centimeters.

ONE OR TWO TABLES?

That will depend on you, as long as you follow the recommendations of measures that we already saw. The advantage of having two (or more) smaller tables is that you can move them as needed.

For example, leave one in the middle and move the other to the side of one of the seats as a side table.

For this, a good idea is to use smaller tables, such as the classic side tables.

You can choose two similar tables but of different height and overlap them, or two twins that you can put one next to the other. This last alternative will look super elegant and is a very decorative option for your living room.

THE SHAPE

Another point that you should consider is the shape of the table. Although the favorites are rectangular, there are also oval and round ones. Look at the different advantages:

Rectangular: The most common option, it will work very well if your living room is long and narrow. It is ideal for small spaces since it will demarcate the sector very well and help you create defined spaces.

Round: If your living room is spacious and square in shape, round coffee tables will look great, as they will give the space dynamism and texture. Another good idea is to put 2 or more small round tables (side style) in the center, to make a single-tiered coffee table.

Oval: Perfect to soften the look of your living room, the oval tables will help create relaxed spaces, with beautiful and interesting contrasts with the rest of the furniture with straight lines.

WITH LEGS OR ONE PIECE

Another element to consider is whether your table will have legs or will it be a single block. The first ones are the most classic, and you can find hundreds of different alternatives: long, short, wooden, iron legs, central legs, or only lateral legs.

The tables in one piece, for example, a block of wood or a trunk, are visually much heavier since they are glued to the floor, therefore, they will work very well in large spaces, which allow furniture of greater volume.

As you can imagine, the one-piece tables are super decorative and will easily become the star of your living room. If you add an eye-catching color or material to that, wow!

THE MATERIAL

Lastly, you should consider the material of your coffee table. It is one of the most important characteristics when defining its durability.

Wood: If you are looking for a resistant piece of furniture that will accompany you for years and that accommodates various decorative styles, then wood is ideal.

Glass or crystal. For its part, glass or crystal is the option for small living rooms since it will not take up much visual space. Decoratively it is a modern and minimalist material, which will work very well if you want to highlight other elements such as the carpet.

Natural fibers too: they will look great, especially in bohemian spaces or in the living room of a terrace. Bamboo or cannage are two proposals that you can consider and that will give your spaces a relaxed and fresh look.

Marble (or granite, in its most economical version). Another material present in the coffee tables, use it if you want to achieve a sober and elegant space, mixed with black iron or gold details it will look spectacular.
